Individual volunteers who want to help BB4CK usually do so at our downtown kitchen. There’s plenty of work to be done helping to make and pack the hundreds of lunches that go out to schools each morning, Monday through Thursday, during the school year. Individual volunteers generally arrive at the kitchen between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and stay until 11 a.m. or so.
You’ll need to book your volunteer time in advance so we can schedule you, but no special skills are required — we’re happy to train you “on the job.”
BB4CK also relies on volunteer drivers, who use their own vehicles to deliver lunches to the schools where hungry kids need them. Drivers arrive at the kitchen by 9:30 a.m.
Volunteers who can’t help out in the kitchen or with deliveries, but would still like to be involved with BB4CK, can help in our office, at events and in a number of other ways.
If you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity within your community, let us know. We can help connect you with an existing group, or with other individuals in your area. You could be part of starting a community group, making lunches for kids in nearby schools.
