BB4CK invites Calgarians to volunteer, with a pressing need for delivery drivers
Volunteer drivers connect about 8,000 kids with lunches each school day at more than 290 Calgary schools
CALGARY, October 7, 2026 — Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) is inviting Calgarians to become volunteers, with a pressing need for volunteer drivers.
Every school day, about 8,000 kids receive a BB4CK lunch in more than 290 schools across Calgary. These lunches give kids access to food so they can focus on learning, playing and being part of their school community. Volunteer drivers are an essential part of that care, bringing lunches and snacks from our kitchens to schools.
“Our volunteer community puts so much care into every lunch, and volunteer drivers carry that care all the way to school,” says Bethany Ross, Executive Director of BB4CK. “Right now, we need more drivers to share in that work so kids can continue accessing the lunches and snacks they need.”
BB4CK’s current drivers are generously taking on multiple routes. More volunteers are needed to share the deliveries throughout the school year. With flexible delivery shifts, training provided and mileage covered, there are practical ways to fit volunteering into your week. Volunteer drivers need a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle with at least $2 million in liability insurance.
Calgarians interested in becoming volunteer drivers can visit bb4ck.org to learn more and apply.
