This week is National Volunteer Week (April 19th – 25th, 2020)! Join us as we celebrate the incredible people who choose to take time out of their lives to volunteer with us. To ALL of our volunteers – we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

“I am a senior who has always been involved in volunteering in some way. When I heard that the church across the street from me had offered their great kitchen to the BB4CK group I jumped right in and offered to be an organizer to get this started.

I only needed to mention this to other seniors in my building and we had 7 volunteers. We have been doing this for a year now. We make 120 lunches every Thursday for a school in Ramsay and have a lot of fun making this happen. Every lunch is put together with lots of love and makes our hearts sing.

A perfect way to start a day!!!”

“As I volunteered with my office colleague the seed was planted in my mind and in my heart as to how big a need there is in Calgary. It was timely that I was getting ready for retirement and knew that taking on this project would fill that void that many feel when they first retire.

So I got into action connecting with the BB4CK coordinator, the Parish Pastor, Alberta Health Services, and the parish to get volunteers. We have enough volunteers to serve all the schools in our neighbourhood but we chose to start small and only take care of one school. Next was the funding for this initiative. We went ahead and had a parish wide ‘snack drive’ and a ‘Valentine Dinner Dance’ fundraiser.

Both were a huge success and in 3 months we had enough expand to take on more schools wherever there was a need. At St. Patrick’s Church we are committed to serving our community and to making a difference by feeding one child at a time!”
